My mom and dad (deceased) have been long-time land owners in South Park.
My mom has just received one of the Horizon Nevada Uranium letters on the intent to stake her land. She is obviously concerned about damages to her property.
The article addresses surface reclamation, but did not address the issue of destroying the underground aquifer. I know there was an extensive discussion of the aquifer in regards to Aurora's need for water.
The in-situ method of mining mentioned in your article is similar to (or the same as) the one proposed for Weld County, which has created a lot of controversy in the local newspaper (Ft. Collins Coloradoan). A Google search on in-situ Weld County Colorado yielded 2,240 hits.
I think all residents of South Park would appreciate a follow-up article that address the issues discussed in the Weld County debate.
Sincerely,
Jerry Potter
Fort Collins
