Thanks to physical therapist, vet
To the Editor,

How amazing that tiny Fairplay is blessed with extraordinarily gifted health care providers. Debilitating pain and injuries suffered by us and our animals have been relieved countless times by physical therapist Julia Anderson, P.T., of Fairplay Therapy Center, and veterinarian Kris Ahlberg, D.V.M, of Anam Cara Veterinary Acupuncture and Chiropractic.

Last week, for the umpteenth time, I hobbled into Julia's office functionally disabled by a flare of chronic injuries that aren't quite ready for surgery. As before, Julia's adept expertise addressed the acute issues so completely that the pain was gone, and I was able to get on with life. In our years of going to her, we've been continually impressed by her skills, compassion and leading-edge office, where state-of-the-art technologies and therapies are made available to this little town in the boondocks.

Last month, one of our dogs took a bad fall. He clearly didn't need X-rays, but assessment was required. We took him to Dr. Ahlberg, who quickly determined that he had several dislocated ribs and other parts out of whack. Within minutes, he was comfortable and walking normally again.

Years ago, we adopted a horrifically abused, sweet Doberman with permanent injuries. Dr. Ahlberg made the difference between constant suffering and a happy life for him. We were skeptical of acupuncture before seeing its benefits in a dog, for whom there is no "placebo effect." Dr. Ahlberg's years of specialization and her link to animals make her an unequalled healer of horses and smaller critters. This smart, guileless woman tells us bluntly when conventional medical interventions are required, but provides powerful therapies we could never find elsewhere.

For better or worse, we're stuck here because we just can't live without these two remarkable women. Many heartfelt thanks, Kris and Julia, you're the BEST!
