Huskies have trouble stopping Kent Denver running back
The Platte Canyon Huskies football team lost to Kent Denver 42-21 in a state semifinals home game on Saturday that started off on a bad note for Platte Canyon.
In the Huskies' first possession, the ball was fumbled, Kent Denver recovered, and four plays later the Sun Devils were on the scoreboard with a touchdown.
Platte Canyon trailed 21-0 after the first quarter, 21-7 after the second quarter, 28-13 after the third quarter, and then gave up two touchdowns and scored one in the fourth quarter to end the game and the season with the 42-21 loss.
Platte Canyon running back Mikey Gunkel had 89 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries. Platte Canyon quarterback Michael Clark was five for six in passing, with 55 yards, including a touchdown throw to Ryan Holladay for 13 yards.
The Huskies had trouble stopping Kent Denver's star running back, Tyler Jackson, who gained 266 yards and scored three touchdowns on 18 carries.
