Silverheels Middle School sixth-graders in athletic program

The Fairplay-based Silverheels Middle School has changed its policy and now allows sixth-graders to participate in the school's athletic program with seventh- and eighth-graders.

Park County Fishing Report
Michael "Grizz" Egloff, the head guide of Hartsel-based South Platte Anglers, said that fishing has been fairly slow this week due to the weather. Seasonal reports say that after the slow fishing of summer, autumns in Colorado make for prime and scenic fishing.

The most dramatic view of the South Park Range is from U.S. 285 while you're coming down from Kenosha Pass to the floor of South Park. As you come around the corner from the summit, the northern end of South Park sweeps before you, and then your eyes are drawn up to the mountain heights beyond.

Platte football ranked No. 3
As Platte Canyon's football team enters the 2010 season, it is ranked No. 3 in the state in 2A football by Max Preps after an impressive season last year in which it went undefeated in the regular season and was knocked out of the playoffs by a 42-21 loss to Kent Denver in the semifinals.

Platte Canyon's girls softball team took third place by winning four games and losing one in the La Junta Tournament held at the Aurora Sports Complex on Friday, Aug. 27, and Saturday, Aug. 28.

Run the Rock gets 126 participants
The Third Annual Run the Rock in Conifer Community Park at Beaver Ranch on Aug. 14 drew 126 participants from mountain communities, metro Denver, and other states such as South Dakota, Iowa, and California.
